Have you ever considered you might have a vocation to religious life?

A religious vocation is a commitment to Christ in a loving relationship in which all is gift. Many women may have considered this in their younger days but have taken a different route, particularly one of marriage, caring for children or elderly parents. When our Congregation was founded, it was for the specific purpose of making religious life available to older women, in the age range 40 – 65 years, who wished to consecrate the remaining years of their lives to Christ and to the service of his Church. Prospective candidates need to be free from dependants, in good health, able to care for themselves and contribute to the domestic activities of the community.

Initial enquiries are usually made by telephone so enquirers can tell us about themselves and any parish activities in which they are involved, and also ask questions. They may then be invited to spend a few days with the community to experience a little of the life and have an opportunity to discern their future. No charge is made for these initial visits but a donation helps to offset costs. Further visits can be arranged according to mutual convenience.

If, after prayer and reflection, candidates decide to try their vocation, then they undertake a trial period of six months with the community and at the end of this period - if they so desire and they are accepted - they begin a year’s Novitiate. This is followed by a period of Temporary Profession, at which time the Sister acquires her habit, consisting of a simple navy blue dress and veil. After a further period of discernment, a Sister makes her Perpetual Profession which signifies a decision regarding her life’s commitment to Christ through membership of the Congregation.

It is a great privilege to have this opportunity and we trust that new members will ensure the continuance of our Congregation. Enquiries are welcomed from ladies interested in developing their spiritual life within this Congregation and contact may be made with the Superior.
